Title VI – Nondiscrimination Policy

The Arc of Southern Chesapeake is committed to ensuring that no person shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or otherwise be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity, whether those programs and activities are federally funded or not.

Title VI Complaints

Any individual who believes they have been subjected to discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin may file a Title VI complaint.

Complaints should be submitted within 180 calendar days of the alleged incident and will be handled in accordance with established Title VI complaint procedures.

Title VI Notice to the Public

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving Federal financial assistance.

Filing a Title VI Complaint

Any individual who believes they have been subjected to discrimination based on race, color, or national origin may file a Title VI complaint.

  • Complaints may be submitted using the Title VI Complaint Form (link)
  • Complaints must be filed within 180 days of the alleged incident
  • Complaints may also be filed directly with the Federal Transit Administration, Office of Civil Rights

The Arc of Southern Chesapeake will investigate complaints promptly and communicate the outcome to the complainant.
